slack mother fucker

surfing in the pouring rain has got to be one of the most pleasurable experiences (sans ladies)i've ever, uh, experienced. the glass-off is just a bonus when you are completely surrounded by water. the rhythmic tapping of the drops on the deck of your board, the clearing of the tourists from the beach. it makes me happy.

my workplace is full of people whom i have nothing in common with. it is a day to day struggle to keep my mouth shut and not smack bitches. it stands to reason that one of the nicest guys around these parts, John Oakes, passed away last week. he was 78, had an awesome, dry sense of humor, and i already miss him.

when all my friends are blabbering about the new cool thing, i find myself turning my head and staying with the tried and true. change is icky. i did this with ipods, gmail, etc. the last thing i ignored completely was pandora. what an ass! i love pandora. my 'no depression' channel will change your life. my 'power pop' channel is smile inducing. genius, i say! GENIUS!

i'm playing a rare solo acoustic set at The TARBALL JAMBOREE, a benefit set up by the one and only Z.F. Lively, at the orioles nest on august 6th. i'll strum out a few originals and some covers too. gonna cover some aimee mann, jawbreaker, son volt, etc. a $5 donation gets you in. git sum.

i got my hair did. for maybe the third time in my life. i have a pair of clippers and when my hair starts curling up in the back, it's time to strap on the 3/4 inch guard and take it down. this time, mostly due to my pompadour rocking friend Rob Baird, i cut around the sides and back, left the length up top, bought some wax and started combing that shit in. my first attempt was very George McFly ("Hey you, get your damn hands off her!") and now it's verging on Madmen territory, although i've never seen the show. i tell you what, if i knew that the ladies would react so positively, i woulda done it years ago!

kc and jackson start school next month. kindergarden and graduate school, respectively. time flys.

my good friend Gileah Taylor released her double EP today via itunes and bandcamp. pure pop brilliance. go to www.gileahtaylor.com to listen and purchase the tunes. speaking of brilliant, i witnessed jaw-dropping sets by Terri Gamble and Lauris Vidale this last week. google that shit.
